Building and Painting

So tonight we went out to see if we could catch the bear that has been about before it comes into camp, but all we saw was the squirrel stealing the bear bate.....and
a chipmunk, which was cool as i havent seen one of them before.

this is my second try at making bread, and its goooood, i made 2 lofts of brown bread so hopefully that will last a little bit, we have lettuce growing outside so we now can have sandwichs yay...
So over the last few days scott has been fixing boats that have been going wrong. I have been painting like crazy and then we both have been trying to fix up a cabin, well ive been scotts helper which has been cool, and im learning a lot. This is scott finishing off the floor, and then we managed to put up the walls and today he made some bunkbeds.

this is dief sunbathing...

Fixing and Painting.

Well today I (louise, as scott seems to never write on this thing) i spent most of the afternoon painting, well most of it trying to turn the paint back into being paintable stuff. Scott was doing some boat stuff and then him and Steve and Sup were trying to put in a flooring (they have to finish it tomrw)

Incase you had forgotten what i look like, and yes we look good as today was shower day..whooop whoop.

This is scott and marrty trying to catch some fish on the end of the dock, as you can see the ice i slowly moving away, also helped by the fishermen who drive the boats fast up and down the water to try and break the ice.

So this evening i cooked scott and i dinner and then we took dief for a run down to the airstrip, as i havent been out that way for a week or so now so just wanted to have a drive of the jeep, which i again almost fell out of when going around a corner. So here is a pic of what dief ended up looking like:

The day we caught dinner.

Here are just some photos that i have taken while being about the lodge.

Scott and I decided that we would try our hands at fishing again , this time dief was more chilling out and we actually caught a few fish, i caught a small and then a lady Pike, and Scott caught a big male Pike which was ended up having for dinner. It was such a beautful time of day that we went, as the sun was going down, so the shot i got i think looks awesome.

Well its been a couple days again, and we have both been busy about the lodge, I (louise) have been doing cabins and all sorts, and Scott has been doing man things.

The other day i was just sitting by the cabin just watching the day go by, and suddenly there is this sound, dief is sitting with me and we look over to the main cabin and see this squirrel just chilling stealing some food, dief suddenly decides to try and attack it just realizes that he attacted to the dog lead. So here is a pic of the squirrel that was eating the food.

May Long

We decided to go out on the lake and try and catch ourselves some dinner, but it didnt really work out very well. For 1 we had the dief with us and he couldnt decide where to sit on the boat and then when he did, he would sit in some water so if he wasnt moving about he would be shaking the boat because he was soooo cold. Scott felt a couple pulls but i guess the fish werent hungry yesterday (well for us anyways) It did look really cool being out the lake and with it all being frozen still, but we both look forward to when we can go further out and see how much we can catch.

This is the place that scott spends a lot of his time, just him and his two fav chainsaws.

So over the last few days we have been working very busily on the grounds, doing some more leaf work and scott and sup have been cutting dead trees down and making the area a lot tidier.

It is all coming together now, apart from when the gators decide they dont want to work, that has been a bit annoying, but when they do work they are a lot of fun to drive about in, i cant decide if that is a good or bad thing.

The other day we made dief try and fish for some rocks that we through on the ice, he did very well and nearly got them, was very funny to watch him try soo had to get them. He has also been loving the face that there are loads of birds to try and catch as well as squirrels.

Day 4

So today Steve and Debbie arrived and it was nice to finally meet them both, their family is also here and are a really lovely group of people. A few of them went fishing today, even though the lake is still frozen a lot, so for dinner we got to have some pike, which was really lovely i have to say. Scott helped with cutting up the fish too, and that was cool to see how it was all done.

During the day Scott and I did a bit more work with the leafs and we also had some help from this guy called Sup which was cool.

So today Gro left the camp, it was such a lovely still morning and a awesome day to see the lake in the air. We wanta say from the three of us, was awesome to meet you and teach us about the camp, so thank you. I managed to get a photo of Gro leaving, although not very good i was holding dief with the other hand so give me a break

Day 3 - 2nd full day

Today we have been racking up some more about the camp and it feels good to see what we have done. Spent some time watching the robins flying about and jumping into the piles of leaves that we have made. We found out where all the leaves then ended up going to and dief had the time of his life being carried along in the back of the 6 wheeler on top of the leaves. We then went to the air strip to see if we would to catch the porcupine, but dief had other ideas and ran after it, so this is the only shot i have got of it so far.

First Full Day @ the Lodge

Day two of our great adventure. Tried to start the truck on the strip, but no luck yet. Beautiful morning, and a good day to clean some much needed rubbish up and burn it. Also had to break through an inch of newly formed ice to fill our water pails. Lou spent the morning learning to make/bake bread with Gro, and taking photos of Ziggy the hare.

Day 1

Not a cloud in the sky, but a 200ft ceiling and a 5 hour delay, whoop whoop High Level.

Although we are stuck at the moment, we had an awesome trip up from Edmonton yesterday and got to see a baby Grizzly Bear that we have named, Bentley. So here is a photo of Bentley for everyone to see, he was just on the side of the road, was sooo exciting.

The summer is planned

This blog is so it is easier for everyone to follow what we get up to and all the animals we will see, hopefully not too many bears.

I hope you enjoy reading about all the fun and exciting new experiences we will have up at the fish camp. We are both looking forward to being together, finally for longer than 2 weeks.

Our journey starts on Saturday 9th May, the day I (lou) arrive in Calgary.
